Home Help Service Agency DeForest, WI

Caring Companion offers personalized, non-medical home care to DeForest, WI families — one of the closest communities to our Sun Prairie home base. It is elder care built around one consistent caregiver who knows the household. Help ranges from companionship to errands and outings.

Eleven Miles Up the Road

Of every community we serve, DeForest is among the easiest to reach: about 11 miles from Sun Prairie and roughly 19 minutes on WI-19. Short drives matter more than families expect. They are what make a 90-minute visit worth booking, what make it realistic to add a second stop in a week, and what let us say yes when a Thursday needs to become a Friday.

DeForest and neighboring Windsor have their own gravity — the schools, the parks along the Yahara, and the DeForest Area Community & Senior Center, where a lot of the village's older residents keep their weekly rhythm. The DeForest Area Public Library is another favorite: large-print titles, audiobooks and quiet conversation at a table near the stacks, or a visit timed to one of the library's programs and author talks. In the warmer months, Fireman's Park is hard to beat, with concerts and community activities through the summer, walks around the splash pad and plenty of shade for an easy afternoon. When a client is connected somewhere like that, we plan around it, driving them over when they would rather not park and picking up the household work while they are out. When someone is not connected to anything yet, our visits are often the first regular company on the calendar.

The work itself is straightforward and non-medical: home-cooked meals portioned for the week, laundry and light cleaning, pharmacy and grocery runs, sorting through a basement that has held forty years of belongings, and conversation that is not rushed. We do not provide nursing or hands-on personal care like bathing or dressing, and we will tell you plainly if what your family needs has moved beyond our scope.

Because Terri and her team provide the care personally rather than dispatching a roster, families in DeForest get something a larger agency struggles to promise: the same face, the same standards, and a direct line to the owner when something changes.

Two of DeForest's favorite spots — the library and Fireman's Park — are regular stops on our outings with clients.

A few years after my husband passed and I was in my 90’s, keeping up with the house became overwhelming. Terri helps me stay organized and on top of things, picking up groceries, cooking an occasional meal, doing laundry, driving me to appointments, helping me with exercises, doing some downsizing, and whatever else I ask her to do.  More importantly she brings companionship and brightens my week. She has enabled me to stay in my home.

DeForest care questions, answered

Is DeForest inside your regular service area?

It is one of our closest towns. DeForest sits about 11 miles from Sun Prairie — call it a 19-minute drive on WI-19 — so it is part of our core coverage rather than an occasional stretch.

Who typically calls you from DeForest?

Usually an adult child noticing that mail is piling up, meals have become toast and coffee, or that a parent has stopped driving to Windsor and Token Creek for errands. Sometimes the senior calls directly because the house has simply gotten to be more work than it used to be.

Do you help someone get to the DeForest Area Community & Senior Center?

Yes, and we will stay or come back afterward if that is helpful. Transportation to the DeForest Area Community & Senior Center, the DeForest Area Public Library, concerts and activities at Fireman's Park, medical appointments or the pharmacy is part of our errands and outing services — always as a companion, never as a medical escort.
